Pacemaker and Defibrillator Testing and Follow-Up

After initial implantation of the pacemaker or defibrillator, the device is checked in the office with the doctor and the technician from the pacemaker/defibrillator company. The doctor will then decide how often he/she would like to see you. It is usually every 3-12 months. We try to group all the pacemaker/defibrillator checks together and the doctor will have specific days allocated to his pacemaker clinics.

There is also the capability of having remote home monitoring set up with many devices. This allows you to have a transmitter in your home to send through regular data that a specialist cardiac nurse will review, escalating any concerns to your cardiologist.
